Which Country has the shortest hours of daylight, how many hours [and at what time of the year?]?
Best Answer
The country that has the most northern southern coast would be Iceland. In the winter there would be 4 or 5 hours of daylight in jan and dec.

There are parts of Canada and Greenland (which is part of Denmark) that see no sun over winter months.
Edit:
Antartica is not a country, so it would not fit with your question
Alaska is part of the United States (and still further south than Iceland or Nothern Canada). Though it is has short hours of daylight, as a country, the United States on the average does not have the shortest hours of daylight. (It reaches all the way down to Hawaii!)

Rated Highest- South Pole, in Antarctica has one day and one night per year. That's a long day and night. North Pole does too, but not a country.

- Any place north of the Artic Circle, 66 & 1/2 degrees from the Equator, goes without sunlight for two whole months in the winter and gets two months of continuous sunshine in the summer.
- I would have to say Antarctica. The South Pole is immersed in complete darkness 24 hours a day from September 22nd to March 22nd (beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere to the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere) and is lit by daylight 24 hours a day for the rest of the year.
