New Delhi : Even as the nation writhes in agony over the Bangalore school rape incident, another shocking case of brutality against children has to come light, this time from Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.

A teacher of a residential school for visually impaired children in the city was caught on camera brutally canning young children. The teacher is also blind.

The video shows the teacher beating up three visually challenged students even as they cry in agony and seek mercy. But the teacher continued to deliver blow after blow till the children – all younger than 10 – collapsed on the floor in tears.

The video, which appears to have been captured using a cellphone, has also caught the teacher banging a child's head against the floor.

The teacher and the principal of the school are now under police custody; the state Child Rights Commission has also started a probe.

As per reports there are over 60 students enrolled at the residential school, which is said to be a charitable institution.

Importantly, the children are not orphans. Their parents had enrolled them there so as to ensure that they get specialised care.

All of them are now numb with disbelief and pained to realise what their children have had to go trough.

Meanwhile, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu said that he was feeling bad about the incident and that action would be taken.

Hyderabad: The director and principal of a school for blind in Andhra Pradesh will be produced before a court on Tuesday, a day after they were arrested for beating up their students.

In the meantime, the Education Department has taken over the school where the incident occurred.

The National Human Rights Commission has also sent a notice to the Andhra Pradesh government over the matter.

The arrests were made after parents of the children staged a protest and attacked the Greenfield residential school for blind at Thimmapuram near Kakinada in East Godavari district and the district collector ordered a probe into the incident, which came to light after four days.

The national child rights panel has sought a report from the Andhra Pradesh government on the brutal beating up of blind students by their teachers.

Video clips of school director KV Rao and principal Srinivasulu caning the blind children were released to the media on Monday, leading to an outrage.

Rao admitted that they beat up three students for making noise. He even defended the action by saying punishment is necessary for those making noise.

The director himself is blind and was seen mercilessly caning the children with the help of Srinivasulu, who was holding the students.

The clips showed the children pleading to spare them but the duo showed no mercy.
