What Center’s temporary package means to AP?
Union Finance Ministry had announced a Special Assistance Package to Andhra Pradesh during the current financial year 2015-2016. While the media reports said it to be 1100 Crore, the center is 100 Crore short and announced 1000 Crore package. The center had provided 350 Crore for the seven backward districts of Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra region. With the last year’s 350 Crore, it is effectively 100 Crore for each of the seven districts. Wonder what difference this minuscule 100 Crore will make to their backwardness.
Out of the remaining 650 Crore, 350 Crore will be for the capital construction. CRDA will have to pay 150 Crore per year to the land losing farmers as yearly compensation. The upcoming Capital city of Andhra Pradesh state is going to cost 1.26 Lakh Crore according to the early estimates being prepared by the government. Do your maths to calculate what percentage is that help (Approximately about 0.27%)
And the last 300 Crore is for the Polavaram Project which is a national project now and all its expense has to be borne by the central government. According to the figures with us, the state government had spent 812 Crores on the project from the appointed day to July 7th this year (Mirchi9.com do not have figure till date) which has to be reimbursed by the center. So this 300 Crore will not take the project any where. As a whole this interim package will be a big disappointment for the state!
