Debate on Water dispute

రేపు తెలంగాణ ప్రత్యేక రాష్ట్రంగా ఏర్పడితే, కృష్ణా, గోదావరి నదుల నీటిని తీరాంధ్ర ప్రాంతానికి పారవు, పారనివ్వరు అనేది ఒక ఆరోపణ. తెలంగాణ ఉద్యమ కాలంలో కొందరు నాయకులు, కొన్ని సందర్భాల్లో అతి‌ఉత్సాహంతో చేసిన హెచ్చరికలు కూడా ఇలాంటి భయాందోళనలకు దోహదం చేశాయి. తెలంగాణకు చెందిన ఉదారవాదులు ఇలాంటి అపొహల్ని అనేకసార్లు కొట్టివేసినా సీమాంధ్రలో అవి కొనసాగుతూనే వున్నాయి. ఈ భయం కారణంగానే తాము ’సమైక్యాంధ్రా’ను కొరుతున్నామని వాదించేవాళ్ళు తీరాంధ్రలో పెద్ద సంఖ్యలోనే వున్నారు. ఎక్కడైనా సమస్య ఉదారవాదులతోరాదు, దుందుడుకువాదులతోనే వస్తుంది.

  Sridhar Dharmasanam Annayya they should be knowing that there is one Central Water Commission (CWC) that allocates water to all 29 states including new Telangana state. Inter state water disputes can be settled in tribunals. And above all, Bachawat tribunal has allocated 811 tmc of water from Krishna to AP but left the decision of allocating region-wise to the state govt. This paved way for seemandra govt. to ensure that T-region gets only a mere 150 tmc of water out of 68.5 % of its legitimate share. The rest of 661 tmc had flown downwards uninturruptedly. Moreover, Sagar was deliberately shifted 25 kms downstream from Nandikonda to the present site so that right bank canal can run upto ongole, nellore even. Where as left bank runs thru borders only to be linked with Godavari district again.

  Sridhar Dharmasanam Similarly Godavari story is also the same. The allocation was 1480 timc but seemandra govt. ensured that T-region do not get its legitimate share. That's the reason why SRSP Phase-2 project, Devadula did not take off. And many more lift irrigation projects were shelved in Telangana as a result of which hardly 5 lakh acres are being irrigated where as 15 lakh acres in andhra region are being cultivated. Even Pranahita-Chevella was also a mischief one. It is aimed at feeding water supply to pothireddy padu from Godavari.

  A.m. Khan Yazdani Danny Sridhar Dharmasanam! Godavari river flows through Deccan Plateau in the Telangana region where the construction of gravitational flow projects is rather impossible. The only option is lift irrigation projects that enhance the cost manifold. 
  The scenario changes radically when the Godavari crosses Papi Kondalu and enters plains to form the delta. One should remember that the crust gate height of the Sir Arthur Cotton’s anicut (1852) at Dhavileswaram is just three feet. Yes three feet!. Rajahmundry is my mother’s home town. In my childhood, I use to play in the down stream apron of the anicut.
