PM Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha:

  • It is a fact that there are some reasons that the political goodwill and the perception of political fraternity in society is changing
  • When there were many ministers, law was brought to limit their numbers. We have brought restrictions upon us
  • Self serving leaders are no good for the country. We must get rid of 'what about me' attitude

PM Modi in Lok Sabha:
  • Society does have its share of problems but good people come from the same society to weed out bad things. There was a time when we took pride in Sati, but then came Raja Mohan Roy and worked to abolish it.
  • When the society goes through bad times, some great individual comes along and tries to improve it

  • 'If we wish to maintain Democracy... we must maintain and uphold Constitutional measures, says PM Narendra Modi during Constitution debate in Lok Sabha
  • The constitution is a fundamental document - it defines the Executive, Judiciary and the Legislature.
  • The purpose of the Constitution is not just to define the three organs of the state but to limit their authority. If no limitation is done, there will be complete tyranny.
  • Dr Ambedkar said: No matter how good a constitution may be, those that are in charge of it, can make it bad if they are themselves serving their own interests and vice versa

Sonia Gandhi also mentioned this yesterday.

Speaking about Father of the Indian Constitution- Dr BR Ambedkar, PM Narendra Modi says:

If anyone wants to attack the Government, they quote Babasaheb.
If anyone has to defend, then also they quote him
If anyone wants to be neutral, then also they quote him
Imagine his vision
This is a wonder in itself

  • Imagine his greatness, his clarity of thought and political character that all political rhetoric can employ his quotes
  • A son of a dalit mother, who at every step was criticized and ignored
  • And just imagine, when he was given the chance to draft the Constitution, he harbored no ill
